Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image has announced a world class lineup of personalities for its international jury 2015.

Dawn Riley (Executive Director, Oakcliff Sailing Center and former America’s Cup and Whitbread race skipper, USA), Antonio Palma (CEO, Mirabaud and Cie SA, SUI), Richard Gladwell (NZ and America’s Cup Editor, Sail-World.com, NZL), Vincent Steinmann (Marketing and communication Director, Zenith Watches, SUI) and Alfred Farré (Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image award winner 2014, ESP), will be selecting the world’s best yacht racing photograph of the year.

The Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image award has been held since 2010 to recognize the very best yacht racing image taken during the year, which best represents the essence and excitement of the sport. Open to professional photographers, it provides an opportunity for yacht racing specialists to display their work and to share their passion with a wide audience. More than one million people saw the pictures submitted for the last edition of the contest.

The international jury will be asked to pre-select the top seventy photographs out of all the pictures submitted. The selection will then be published on the event website on November 1, allowing the public to vote for their favorite photograph.

Two prizes will once again be awarded: The ‘Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image’, chosen by the international jury and the ‘public prize’, which will be awarded by the delegates from the Yacht Racing Forum (Geneva, December 7 - 8), based on a preselection of the top twenty photographs chosen by the public votes on Internet.

The contest will be run according to the ethical principles of the ‘Concours Equitable’ label. Only low resolution photographs will be published, and the name of the photographers will automatically be associated with each photograph.

“The last edition of the event uncovered a stunning collection of images and I look forward to discovering this years' best sailing pictures”, says Antonio Palma, CEO, Mirabaud and Cie SA, the event’s main partner. “The Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image award tells the story of the greatest moments experienced in the current sailing season, through the artistic and expert eye of the world’s best yacht racing photographers. It symbolises our passion for sailing, but also teamwork, technology and high performance – three themes that are particularly dear to us.”

Richard Gladwell, editor of the reference sailing website sailworld.com, considers that the Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image award is “the most prestigious award in sailing photography, showing all aspects of the sport.”

According to “ title holder ” Alfred Farré, “ the Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image award helps measure the evolution of the sport. It is the Pulitzer Yacht Racing Image award.”
