The 55th Toronto International Boat Show has showcased the newest and most sophisticated boats in the boating and sailing world. Canada’s Formula 2 OptiMax powered race boat has dazzled the most, grabbing the attention of everybody that attended the exhibition.

A gleam of excitement came across most spectators faces when they saw the boat up-close and in-person. Most attendees had only seen this type of race boats on television and they were excited to learn about the boat, team and Mercury’s involvement in the sport.

This race boat will be powered by a very unique Mercury engine, a 2.5 liter DFI, 200 XS SST OptiMax motor. The OptiMax showcases

Mercury’s dedication to the environment while keeping it’s high performance and durability standards intact. Formula 2 race boats travel at speed over 120 mph and are raced world-wide. Drivers experience up to 4G´s of centrifugal forces as they maneuver around a turn buoy.

Tammy Wolf will pilot Mercury - Canada’s Formula 2 race program in 2013. Tammy is Canada’s only female Formula 2 race driver and has won numerous championship throughout her racing career.

The teams first event is in Port Neches, Texas, May 3 - 5. For Canadian residents and fans, Formula powerboat racing will return to Canada this summer at the 75th annual Valleyfield Regatta, July 12, 13, 14 in Quebec. This is arguably one of the worlds best racing venues and the team is excited to return home to race in Canada.
