The 158 strong fleet at the McDougall+McConaghy Moth Worlds can expect a confused breeze on Port Phillip for the second day of racing in the Finals.

The latest weather data, analysed by Predictwind shows a fresh northerly breeze early in the morning, but according to one of the data feeds analysed by Predictwind, it will swing east during the day and will ease a little.

The other feed sees the wind staying mainly in the north east, both feeds are showing a big variation between average wind speed and gust strength. With winds of around 15kts average but going to 25kts in the gusts.

The other issue for the sailors will be the short seas resulting from the 30nm fetch down Port Phillip Bay and the shallow water, along with a 2kt current on the outer or Blue course.

Reports from the venue and elsewhere in Port Phillip Bay area indicate that strong winds and heavy rain were prevailing around the scheduled start time of 11.00am.

On the basis of the current forecast will be too strong for racing on Wednesday - which is a scheduled rest day, before the regatta concludes on Thursday and Friday.

Heavy rain is also forecast for today - as indicated in the Forecast summary chart below.
