Maserati Twilight Regattas preview

by MC38 Association on 15 Dec 2014
Maserati Twilight Regatta McConaghy Boats
The Maserati Twilight Regattas runs from Monday 15th through to Wednesday 17th and will be hosted by the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron. It has been an amazing week on Sydney Harbour with the Solas Big Boat Challenge and Extreme 40s in town, the action continues this evening as the MC38 line up to dazzle Sydney siders in their final One Design Regatta of 2014, proudly sponsored by Maserati.

Neville Crichton who is the newest member of the MC38 Class, but by no means a stranger to Grand Prix racing has generously sponsored the event, the Maserati Twilight will consist of seven races including an invitational race.

Crichton and the Maserati crew enjoyed their first taste of MC38 OD sailing in November claiming two firsts 'they are exciting little boats, fun to sail' said Crichton, the high profile car distributer which includes the Maserati range.

The MC38 Class have been approaching the events pro-actively and responsively, aiming to create racing that suits the owners, from the length of the races themselves to the introduction of on water umpires which include Richard Slater from the MC38 Class Authority 'It’s great that the incidents are sorted out on the water so the owners and crew can get back to the dock and enjoy a drink together. It is better for the class to have owners upset with the umpires rather than each other' continued Slater. The on water umpiring has been extremely well received by the class.
