The 2012 Laser Masters Worlds was sailed from the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron (RQYS) Brisbane, Australia in March and there are two more Laser Class World Championships scheduled for that same venue.

The World Laser Radial Youth Championship 2012 will commence Thursday 28th June and conclude Wednesday 4th July and will be followed by the World Laser Radial Men's Championship 2012 from Wednesday 11th July to Tuesday 17th July.

The International Laser Class Association has today posted the Notice of Race and opened the Application for Entry system. Here

RQYS General Manager Paul Hughes said today ‘The Laser is the most successful sailing dinghy in history, with some 205,000 boats launched. The Laser has proven immensely popular in the Asia-Pacific with Australians and New Zealanders enjoying a lot of success in the class.

'The Laser Radial, a modified rig version of the original Laser Standard, has also proven immensely popular and to have World titles for these classes is going to be very exciting.

‘Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron is the most active and successful dinghy racing venue in the Asia-Pacific.

‘We ran a very successful Laser Masters World Championship here in March. The Laser Masters sailors were very happy with the convenience of the event location, the course areas, the perfect breeze and the race management.

‘We have spacious green rigging lawns, good safe launching ramps and a large car parking area.

'NS Sail Sports operates its dinghy shop onsite and has a full range of Laser equipment.

'We have excellent cafes and restaurants within the Club, with our latest upgrade to be completed before the Worlds, and a wide range of accommodation options from on site camping, to plenty of 2, 3 and 4 star motels and hotels close by.

'In summary we are ready to rock.

The World Laser Radial Youth Championship 2012 and World Laser Radial Men's Championship 2012 are restricted entry allocated championship; sailors wishing to enter must first complete an application form.

If the application is accepted and ranked by the National Laser Association, the sailor will be automatically added to the waiting list for the relevant championships.

General Manager Chris Caldecoat from the Australasian Laser manufacturer Performance Sailcraft has confirmed there are two hundred Lasers at Royal Queensland Yacht squadron ready and available for charter.
