Lancer re-tube Coast Guard's largest RIB and set world record

Lancer’s re-tubing of ASB Rescue is the largest re-tubing project in the world SW

Henderson based Lancer Industries has just re-tubed the largest vessel in the Auckland Coastguard fleet.

The vessel has been previously owned by Emirates Team New Zealand and Ports of Auckland - being originally commissioned for use as an America's Cup tender - capable of towing IACC yachts and storing spare gear and sails.

ASB Rescue, the re-tubing of ASB Rescue has been the finishing stage of a refit of the vessel by Auckland Coastguard. She is the largest vessel in their fleet. A new 20 metre inflatable tube has been fitted, and internal modifications have been completed.

The previous tube, made by Lancer in 2001, has excelled in its many involvements from America's Cup regattas to harbour rescues.

The refit of ASB Rescue, is believed to be the largest re-tube in world. The process went smoothly and is intended to give over a decade of service to the Coastguard. Duthie Lidgard Auckland Coastguard General Manager said 'The refit of ASB Rescue is part of Auckland Coastguard's long term strategy to maintain a fleet of vessels able to respond at short notice to any emergency. To do so we have to choose suppliers who can deliver to our high standards, we are pleased that Lancer was able to assist us with this.'

Lancer is a world leader in large RIB's and holds three successive world records for supplying the largest inflatable RIB tubes including ASB Rescue.

Emirates Team NZ's latest tender was also tubed by Lancer Industries, and the company supplied several RIBs for use by New Zealand coaches as support boats at the 2012 Olympics in Weymouth.

Lancer Industries provide a re-tube service for all inflatable tubed vessels and can be contacted at info@lancer.co.nz.'
