Is your PR Department on the ball? Do you have a Publicity Officer? Once upon a time sailing events might make a brief appearance in a newspaper. In Asia that means hardly at all, and two lines if you're lucky, with an incorrect caption on the postage stamp-sized photo. But a 500-word report with up to 12 images and full results can run on Sail-World.com, the largest sailing news network in the world. Sail-World receives an average of 800,000 visits per month and 3,000,000 unique visitors per year.

So make sure your event Public Relations Officers or your Class or Association has provided Sail-World with the event preview, the daily reports, mid-regatta reports or the wrap at very least. There is a news submit button on the front page. It's a very simple process.

Over December - January we will run 50 or so of these. it would be a shame if yours was not one of them. At the end of the day, the name of the game is delivering satisfaction to your sponsors - what they want is coverage and exposure. Getting their name out there. Is your PR officer on the ball? Here are just a few of the events that Sail-World Asia has covered this year:

Phuket King's Cup
Royal Langkawi International Regatta
Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta
China Coast Regatta
Asia Superyacht Rendezvous
1010 International Match Racing
Audi Hong Kong to Hainan Race
Top of the Gulf Regatta
RHKYC Autumn Regatta
Penghu Regatta
Genoa International Boat Show...
... and of course there were lots more!
