Jubilee Bowl at Queen Mary SC – Registration open

by GP14 Class Association on 4 Jul 2012
GP14 Class Association http://www.gp14.co.uk/
The Jubilee Bowl 2012 is being held at Queen Mary Sailing Club from 12th to 14th October. The event is the modern day dinghy version of yachting's Admiral's Cup. It is open to all RYA affiliated clubs who will need to send a three boat team of dinghies (fast, medium and slow) to compete in tightly banded handicap races to be crowned the UK's top club. The event is open to most dinghy classes and all ages. The event will allow top club racers (based inland, rivers or the sea) to compete head to head in their own class.

For 2012, Queen Mary Sailing Club, hosts of the successful Bloody Mary pursuit race, who are also celebrating their 40th anniversary, has been selected as host club. The intention is to move the host club around the country each year.

'We are delighted to host this exciting event in our 40th anniversary year. We look forward to welcoming clubs from across the UK to Queen Mary Sailing Club' Andrew Craig, Commodore.

With over 1,500 affiliated UK clubs and 180 RYA Volvo champion clubs, the competition is sure to bring together the UK's best talent, no doubt just being selected to represent your club will be tough enough, let alone being crowned champions.

Each club must be represented by a three boat team, with the fleet splits putting similar types of boats together, offering the widest opportunities for as many clubs as possible to race and ensuring the safety of racing within each division:

• Slow – Cadet to Laser Radial (rating 1432-1140)
• Medium – Wanderer to Merlin Rocket (rating 1139-990)
• Fast – Hornet to 49er (rating 898-695)

All fleets will race on their own dedicated course, close to shore and with each race lasting approximately one hour. With all races to count from each fleet to the final club score, consistency and team spirit is going to be vitally important.

The Jubilee Bowl 2012 is managed by James Wilson, with the concept developed in partnership with Mark Jardine.
With a limited number of club places available in 2012, be sure to register your club by emailing james(at)sevens7.co.uk. Please include your club's name in the subject line and contact details of your club's secretary. The notice of race will be released in early GP14 Class Association website
