Sir Jack “Black Jack” Brabham, the triple world champion Formula 1 driver is to race again on a different circuit.

The Brabham name is synonymous with Grand Prix motor racing and to this day, Sir Jack Brabham, the first driver in history to be knighted for his services to motorsport, remains one of racing’s most popular personalities.

Sir Jack has enthusiastically given the use his nickname for an Australian Grand Prix 66 foot racing yacht to be called “Black Jack”.

“Black Jack”, launched in the USA as Stark Raving Mad is the younger sister to well known and very successful racer Wild Oats X. The Reichel Pugh 66 cantying keeler will make her debut in the uipcoming Audi Sydney to Southport race, then she will race to Great Keppell Island before heading further north to Hamilton Island, whewre is she sail against Wild Oats X and an international fleet at the 2008 Audi Hamilton Island Race Week

“This is an exciting addition to the Australian racing fleet and “Black Jack” will raise the bar for Australian yachting” Sir Jack said. “Black Jack will be the fastest offshore racer in Queensland.”

Sir Jack is patron of the H4 Youth Foundation, an organisation which is a non-profit organisation specifically created for the purpose of assisting disadvantaged youth and improving their life-skills through boating.

The H4 Youth Foundation promotes team building, develops self-confidence, and brings positive life skills and community values through sailing. H4 provides a fleet of ‘Optimist’ sailing boats through corporate sponsorship. The Optimist class boat is sailed by over 150,000 young people who compete in more than 100 countries and is the fastest-growing dinghy class in the world.

Sir Jack will officially “name” the yacht “Black Jack” at ceremony in Brisbane on Saturday 12 July 2008.
