Marsala è una sorpresa, supera tutte le aspettative. Ci sono persone speciali, situazioni di agio incredibili e miserie sorprendenti.

Il clima questa settimana ha tradito aspettative, previsioni e statistiche. Quest'area è una delle quattro zone più ventose d'Italia ed in effetti sino a lunedì di vento ce n'è stato troppo ma poi troppo poco, abbiamo rischiato di chiudere questo campionato europeo con sole tre prove valide.

Oggi un nord-est di 9/12 nodi, rinforzato poi sino a 15, ha permesso lo svolgimento delle due prove più interessanti di tutto il campionato. Il Kuehne + Nagel 2013 International Moth European Championship si chiude con 5 prove disputate ed uno scarto.


Per la terza volta consecutiva Chris Rashley vince il campionato europeo di Moth, lo fa con una supremazia incredibile, 3 primi un secondo e scarta un quarto, il 75% di boe girate da primo. Rimonte da ultimo a primo in un solo bordo. Questo è il Moth, le velocità sono così alte che scuffiare vuol dire retrocedere inesorabilmente ma le differenze di velocità tra i migliori e il resto della flotta son ancora più impressionati. Su di un 470 possono esserci 02./0.3 nodi differenza tra il primo e l'ultimo di una regata, sul moth le differenze sono di 4/5 nodi!

Siamo stati ospitati splendidamente, essere dilettanti al servizio della passione è ben più che un passatempo, è trasmettere un'emozione. Tre persone in particolare hanno potuto darci l'onore di farci ricevere un'emozione, Claudio , Gianluca e Angelo, anche solo per loro vale la pena di essere stati a Marsala. 40 anni di storia non sono uno scherzo, la storia osservata dal presente fa riemergere valore, avventura, onore. Il Circolo Velico Marsala è un circolo giovane, ha raggiunto l'età della ragione. Altre confraternite italiane hanno storie oramai centenarie ma molte meno chance che territorio e persone del Circolo Velico Marsala offrono con semplicità e passione.

Valorosa la giuria che con dedizione ha dato e spesso non ha ricevuto, è stata molto criticata ma il rispetto ed il fair play sono radici indissolubili nella classe Moth ed il valore della giuria è stato quello di ascoltare le critiche come si ascoltano i consigli.

Luce, calore, sapori ed emozioni. Forse questo è stato l'europeo meno regatato dal primo nel 1955, sicuramente è stato amato come gli altri, chiedetelo alla squadriglia inglese che ha volato con predominanza, agli svizzeri che spesso crediamo freddi ed invece son teneramente sinceri. Ed al F.I.T (Fucking Italian Team) che torna a casa con le guance indolenzite dalle risate, a tutti quelli che han partecipato, ai presidenti del Circolo che in 40 anni l'han portato dov'è ora.

Marsala meritava un evento come il nostro europeo, noi meritiamo più costanza nel clima. E di questo Marsala non può essere ritenuta responsabile.
