2015 Inter-dominion Schools Team Racing Championship – Early light winds on day two changed to a fantastic eight knots perfect to get the racing underway. 39 races were held with major changes on the leader board.
In the Women’s Division, St Leonard Collage from Victoria stamped their authority on the day, moving from fourth yesterday to leading their division, winning four out their five races. The girls from Victoria were happier with the more consistent breeze that allowed them to keep their teams on water game plan. Caroline Brown and Kate Weppner from St Leonard College were thrilled with their win over yesterday’s leaders New Plymouth Girls High School from New Zealand; “We had a very hard race against them and were happy to sail away with a win.” New Plymouth and Nelson College of Girls, both from New Zealand, are just behind St Leonards and looking forward to tomorrow’s races.
In the Open’s Division, Kerikeri and Friends Blue were the big leader board movers today, finishing first and second overall. Friends Blue from Tasmania had a massive jump from fifth yesterday to second overall, leapfrogging yesterday’s leaders, Marlborough Boys College. Shae Donahoe from Kerikeri, the current leader, was very happy with the team’s performance in winning all of their races today, but was focusing on the final races tomorrow. Shae said the boys would have a good debrief and feed, an early night and would be on their game tomorrow.
