Marina General Manager Darrell Barnett CMM was delighted to present four outstanding school leavers from Port Stephens each a cheque for $750 today to further their education at TAFE, university, apprenticeships or training.

As a responsible corporate citizen Soldiers Point Marina values and appreciates the role of our young people in this community and provide many opportunities through the Real Futures Foundation to our youth. The marina has for many years provided sailing lessons to students from Tomaree High and St Philips Christian College at no cost to the school or the student.

The Marina also decided to offer opportunities to young people in the wider Port Stephens community and establish the Inaugural Soldiers Point Marina Scholarships for school leavers aged 16-19 years of age.

“We had many applications for the scholarships and it was difficult to reach a decision but these four young people are exceptional and a wonderful representation of our young people. The funds will really give them a kick start for their future learning in a practical way” said Marina General Manager Darrell Barnett.
