World Sailing announces Athletes' Commission
Five sailors have been elected to World Sailing's Athletes' Commission following a vote by sailors' competing at the Rio
Jo Aleh (NZL), Sofia Bekatorou (GRE), Maayan Davidovich (ISR), Juan Ignacio Maegli (GUA) and Vasiliij Zbogar (SLO) join existing members Sarah Gosling (GBR) as well as Lijia Xu (CHN) and Yann Rocherieux (FRA).

Strong Southerly winds, gusting to more than 30-knots, made 18ft Skiff officials think long and hard before making a decision on whether to conduct the Alf Beashel Memorial Trophy race on Sydney Harbour on Sunday. Finally, with only two boats making it to the start line, the race got under way when Nick Daly’s Peroni crossed the line in Athol Bay, west of Bradleys Head.

WA Sabres put on a show in Opening Day Series
30 Sabres entered the series which was held over five race days.
Sabres were the largest dinghy fleet at all Opening Day events a sure sign to show Sabres are growing in WA.

Michael Chittenden was out on the water for the Major A. Frizelle Trophy - the second race of the 18ft skiff season
Michael Chittenden was out on the water for the Major A. Frizelle Trophy - the second race of the 18ft skiff 2016-17 season. Sailed in in a healthy breeze, officials tried starting the fleet in the Storm Rig configuration, but even that was too much for most competitors. A few hardy souls made it to the start line and then had a sail before the race was abandoned.
