Helly Hansen ORCV - Melbourne to Geelong Race Teri Dodds Images

by Teri Dodds on 8 Sep 2012
Schuss - ORCV Helly Hansen Winter Series 2012 Teri Dodds http://www.teridodds.com
It was a little wet and wild for the final race of the ORCV Winter Series, which took the fleet on a passage race from Melbourne to Geelong. Victoria has experienced some gale force winds this week, and the sunny Spring weather held off for another day, and the crews rugged up in their wet weather gear. No glory for some reaching conditions as it was on the nose nearly the whole way, with a 47nm course set for the Division A fleet and 34 nm course for the Division B, Cruising and Cruising Non-Spinnaker.

It was a relief for Race Officer Neville Rose, who 'didn't expect to get a race in with the forecast earlier in the week', and was relieved to see the race go ahead. Of the 48 starters, there were only four retirements (Noeleen III, Jem, Bundaberg and How Bizarre), which occurred shortly after the 8.30am start.

Dennis McConnell's Schuss had a good day on the water winning IRC and AMS, and second in PHS for Division A, and third across the line in Division A. INSX (Robert Sill) was first boat home and won IRC in Division B.

Teri Dodds was on the water and provided these images from today.

Results are provisional.
