Clive Kennedy’s Egan 9.1 catamaran Two Tribes blasted around the 28 nautical mile Lake Macquarie this afternoon in three hours, five minutes and 22 second beating two 18 footers, Brett Munster's Kinder Caring by three minutes and Greg Paterson’s Skiff Sail, third another four minutes back.

Brett Munster and his crew were plainly exhausted after their 18 foot marathon. 'We were only a minute behind Two Tribes half way around the lake at Belmont' they explained 'but we were getting tired and we capsized at the Belmont mark and she skipped away. We are used to 12-18 mile races, 28 was a stretch today but a lot of fun.'

On PHS handicap it was Bruce Hollis Ulman sails powered T7 Zip who won on handicap from Greg Robinson’s Swanson 32 Gregarious, with Justin Mitchell’s Mitchell’s Sails and Rigging T7 third.

After months of clear skies, the heavens opened last night, accompanied by thunder and lightning; today it was cold on the race course with rain alternating between driving and misting, with 15-20 knots of breeze.

Conditions are improving as the 24 hour fleet continues to circulate.
