Great racing for all in The Watershed NZ Feva Nationals at Milford

Sunday was the final day of racing for The Watershed RS Feva Nationals.

The regatta had a heavy schedule of 10 races in two days. Kim Admore and the team form Milford Cruising Club did a fantastic job getting all the races away, and keeping the courses to the target times.

On the race course 23 boats took to the water with some great racing from young and old.

Scott and Jack Maynard from Milford Cruising Club dominated Saturdays racing with Neil and Robbie Woolridge. These older and bigger skippers showed that experience and a few extra kilos worked wonders in the 15-18 knot Southerly breeze.

Sunday was lighter conditions and the Young Guns came out to play with Royal Akarana's Elijay Liefting and Rose Dickson showing the elders that with some slick starts, and great pace they were very hard to beat. Also in the Young Gun line up was Wakatere Boating clubs Francesco Kayrouz and Celia, as well as Santenay Jorden and Danielle Schon who also had fantastic days at the front of the fleet.

The great thing about this regatta was the friendships from all the sailors. Everyone got on well both on and off the water we had no protests and sailors did their penalty turns when they knew they had infringed.

A special mention has to go to the RS Feva team from Wanganui Collegiate School who made the trip up to for the regatta. These sailors mixed it up with the city slickers and did there school proud both on and off the water.

The RS Feva Class is now alive and well in New Zealand and welcomes individuals and clubs to come and join the action!
