www.predictwind.com!Predictwind is forecasting moderate southwesterly winds for the first day of the 2012 Olympic Sailing Regatta on Weymouth Bay.

The first classes to race will be the Mens Heavyweight Singlehander (Finn) and Two man Keelboat (Star) along with the Womens Match Racing (Elliott 6mtr).

Breezes are predicted to be blowing along the southern coast of England, in the 11-13kt average strength range, staying fairly constant as the day progresses.

The graphic shows a stronger breeze just outside the racing area, which could well move closer inshore - giving the sailors a hearty welcome to to the Olympic Regatta.

Only small niggle is a 20kt squirt showing on one of the feeds around 5.00pm local time, however that comes on the back of a softening breeze. Racing should be concluded by that time anyway.

Monday is expected to be stronger with average winds increasing to 18kts.

Temperatures are expected to be quite cold in the 14-16 degrees C range over the two days, however while the opening day should have clear skies, 100% cloud cover is predicted for Monday, the second day of competition.

The prognosis for Tuesday is uncertain with one of the feeds used by Predictwind expecting winds to lighten, while the other shows no change. However for Wednesday to the end of the week, fresh winds are expected which will make for some exciting sailing.
