Ex-Brasil 1, Chuny Bermúdez é do Abu Dhabi

O navegador espanhol Roberto 'Chuny' Bermúdez, ex-companheiro de Torben Grael no Brasil 1, confirma participação em mais uma Volvo Ocean Race, agora a bordo do Abu Dhabi. O velejador galego tem experiência de sobra para ajudar Ian Walker e sua tripulação a buscar o título da edição 2014-15. No currículo, seis participações na Volta ao Mundo e na antiga Whitbread, além de campanha olímpica na classe Star e participações em America´s Cup. Com 44 anos, Chuny vem de um vice-campeonato em 2011-12 com o Camper.

'Chuny tem uma experiência incrível na Volvo Ocean Race. O velejador é um dos mais requisitados entre os profissionais da vela, além disso é um cara bem legal, se encaixando perfeitamente na nossa tripulação', disse Ian Walker.

Recordista em participação envolvendo espanhóis na Volvo Ocean Race com seis regatas, Chuny Bermúdez acredita que dá para ser campeão desta vez. 'Eu conheço a tripulação e já naveguei com muitos antes. É um time forte e sinto orgulho de fazer parte', falou o galego.

Para o velejador espanhol, a parte mais difícil da Volvo Ocean Race é ficar distante de sua família. Chuny é casado com Lola e tem três filhos: Lola (11) , Carlos (9) e Pepa (7). 'Eu sinto falta da minha família, é claro ', disse ele. 'Mas eu não gosto de ser distraído por pensamentos do que se passa em casa. Em uma regata como essa você tem que se concentrar 100%.'

Bermúdez completa a tripulação do Abu Dhabi de Ian Walker. Os outros são Justin Slattery (Irlanda) , Phil Harmer (Austrália), Simon Fisher (Grã-Bretanha ) , Luke Parkinson (Austrália), Andrew McLean (Nova Zelândia) e Adil Khalid Emirados Árabes Unidos). O grupo está em Cascais, em Portugal, base de treinos nos próximos dois meses e meio. É a segunda vez consecutiva que o Azzam corre a Volvo Ocean Volvo Ocean Race
