2009 Glenfiddich Etchells North American Championship being sailed on Toronto Harbour, from the Royal Canadian Yacht Club.
On Day one of the 2009 Etchells North American titles two races were sailed. US sailor Bruce Burton who won the Etchells World Championship in this same venue in 1986 had an excellent regatta start and with a two,one result was leading the series from Houston sailor and US Class co-chairman Marvin Beckmann. Third was Etchells class veteran and twice Finn World Champion Hanks Lammens.
Good conditions On Day two, allowed three races to be sailed and Beckmann was the most consistent of the leading group, taking second place in the third race in the series behind fellow US sailor Keith Longson, then second behind Bob Stevens, who bounced back from an OCS in the previous race. In the third race of the day, Beckmann sailed his current series drop a handy fifth place.
Overall Beckmann leads the Glenfiddich North Americans on nine points ahead of The Laminator, Hank Lammens on 14, after a 6,10 and second today. Bruce Burton fell back from his blazing regatta start to record 10,6 and 11 on Day 2 and is now third Results here
