Weather still great, Sailing today was a bit tougher with the Derwent at its flukiest.
Being a 1 race day, the race commenced at approx 1415hrs in approx 20 knts of breeze but
faded to about 8 knts on the 3rd leg before firming to about 10 knts on the last work.
One race was sailed today with Ian Johnson in Bananas in Pyjamas prevailing at the finish from
John Bertrand in Two Saints and a Magpie followed by local Dave Connor in Resurgent with
Mike Wilkinson and Richard Boult as crew.
The race was lead by a number of different boats throughout the day. John Bertrand executed a
perfect flag end start and crossed the fleet and worked towards the prevailing breeze in the east
to be first around the windward mark, followed by Glen Tucker in AUS 1144.
Placings were much the same at the leeward mark, but changed significantly up the next work
when the easterly started to wane, providing some holes in the breeze and some significant
shifts.
Nick Rogers in Karabos was first to the next windward mark with John Bertrand next, some of
the early leaders including Andrew Hunn and Glen Tucker found themselves on the wrong side
of a shift and lost a number of places.
