Contrasting conditions for Splash North Island Championships

18 Splash sailors, mainly from the far north, Auckland and Tauranga battled the 25 knot plus conditions at Kohimarama on Saturday in the first four races of their North Island Championships.
Jordan McKenzie-Brown (KYC) took out the title at the end of a seven race series which saw the subsequent three races held in around five knots on the Sunday.
The race leaders changed dramatically in the contrasting conditions with Tyler Russell (Bucklands Beach YC ) winning three out of four races in the heavy conditions. The lead then went to Evangeline Masters (KYC) who won all three races in Sundays lighter conditions. These conditions suited her and her sister Madeleine who also finished well on the Sunday.
McKenzie-Brown sailed consistently with a total score of 13points winning the regatta without having to sail the last race, 15 points ahead of Russell and James Little (KYC) both tied on equal points. Russell placed second on countback with Evangeline Masters first girl.
