Boaters are reminded to keep clear of a section of the Hastings River between Port Macquarie Town Wharf and Pelican Island this Saturday for the safe staging of a fireworks display.
Roads and Maritime Services has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence to All Occasions Pyrotechnics to host the event between 9pm and 9.30pm.
Vessel operators should avoid the area in a radius of 200 metres around the firing barge which will be moored near the inter-tidal sand flats east of Pelican Island.
The area will be monitored by control vessels.
Vessels not involved in the event should not enter the area unless authorised by a boating safety officer or a police officer.
Roads and Maritime reminds people to wear a lifejacket when boating, especially in vessels smaller than 4.8 metres when alone, at night or offshore.
