Changed boating conditions for Dragon Boat Race on Tweed River - Boaters are advised to keep clear of a section of the Tweed River in Murwillumbah on Saturday 24 May for the safe staging of a dragon boat race.
Roads and Maritime Services has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence on the river from Grassy Island at Condong to a turning buoy south of Murwillumbah bridge from 12pm to 4pm.
The area will be marked by buoys and monitored by control vessels.
Skippers should avoid this area as it will be closed to recreational and commercial boating for safety reasons.
Vessels not involved in the event should not enter the exclusive use area unless authorised by a boating safety officer or a police officer.
Roads and Maritime reminds people to wear a lifejacket when boating, especially in craft under 4.8m when alone, at night or Visit Roads and Maritime Services website
