Changed boating conditions for Canoe Races on Clarence River
by Transport Roads and Maritme Services on 14 May 2014
Boaters are advised to keep clear of a section of the Clarence River this Saturday 17 May for the safe staging of Canoe races.
Roads and Maritime Services has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence on the river from Memorial Park, Prince Street at Grafton for a distance of about 500 metres upstream, north of Susan Island from 8.30am to 5pm.
The area will be marked by buoys and monitored by control vessels.
Skippers should avoid this area as it will be closed to recreational and commercial boating for safety reasons.
Vessels not involved in event should not enter the exclusive use area unless authorised by a boating safety officer or a police officer.
Roads and Maritime reminds people to wear a lifejacket when boating, especially in craft under 4.8m when alone, at night or offshore
