It was a slow start for the CYCA's Cabbage Tree Island Race fleet as they left Sydney Harbour just on sunset this evening in a light easterly.
Wild Oats XI led the fleet out through the Heads, followed by Perpetual Loyal, Ichi Ban, Onesails Racing, Balance and Shogun V.
At 10pm much of the fleet could still be seen off the Northern Beaches, silhouetted by the moonlight.
The Sea Breeze forecast for the Newcastle area is for the winds to ease further overnight staying very light ESE for the morning then gradually backing north east and building during the later afternoon to 10-15 knots.
Crosbie and Dale Lorimer were on North Head to watch the fleet leave the harbour and Crosbie captured these images.
