After a a fifteen hour postponement - called by the CYCA in anticipation of the strong southerly that hit Sydney shortly after the scheduled start time of 7pm Friday - the Cabbage Tree Island Race fleet finally got away at 10am today (Saturday) in a building SSE breeze, under grey skies.
Ichi Ban led Chinese Whisper, Celestial and the rest of the fleet through the Heads before unfurling kites and heading north in patches of sunlight between the clouds.
Crosbie and Dale Lorimer of Bow Caddy Media revisited North Head today (having witnessed nothing more than a spectacular sunset and impressive southerly front on Friday evening) to capture the start action.
