Brightlingsea OK Open Meeting starts this weekend

by okdinghy.co.uk on 2 Jun 2015
British OK Dinghy - Brightlingsea OK Open Meeting Brightlingsea Sailing Club
Brightlingsea OK Open Meeting - With three big British events, including the National Championships and a huge Worlds lined up for Poland in July it's not too late to come to the OK party this summer!

The OK Class is in great shape with two British boat builders and mast manufacturers. It's a superb time to get on the water and challenge the likes of former World Champion and current National Champion, Jim Hunt and current Spring Cup champion, Charlie Cumbley.

Jim and Charlie, they haven't won everything so far this year, four time World Champion Nick Craig made his statement at the Inlands. No sailor has managed to win multiple events this year with Richard Burton, Alex Scoles and Robert Deaves also taken trophies home.

The big question is will more sailors hit the front? Or will someone manage that elusive second event win?

The round four of the new British OK Grand Tour Series takes place at Brightlingsea Sailing Club this weekend. Not only one of the class's favourite venues but now RYA Club of the Year! This year we are sharing with the Fireball's and National 12's in what promises to be a great event.

The format is two races on Saturday (with a relaxed 13:00 start time for those travelling) and three races on Sunday. The full Notice of Race is here. Socially, the bar is open on Friday night and a two-course meal will be available on Saturday night.

The weather forecast is looking pretty good so we expect an even bigger turnout than last year - see you there!
