Brett Bakewell-White to speak at Auckland Int Boat Show on stability

• 14th – 18th September, Sail Noumea 2012 at the Auckland International Boat Show
• 29th of September, Brett Blakewell-White to present on stability, righting moments, and keels

Category One Requirements – life rafts, floatation, and stability

Sail Noumea will feature at the Auckland International Boat Show from 14th - 18th of September.

Sydney Hobart and Kenwood Cup winner Starlight Express will be moored at the Auckland International Boat Show and open to the all visitors for a taste of offshore sailing. Visitors can learn more about Sail Noumea 2012, register interest in the race, or just get a look at this iconic New Zealand offshore race boat.

Royal Akarana Yacht Club and Starlight Express welcome all visitors to the show to step aboard for a taste of Noumea and offshore sailing.

Following on from a very successful first Sail Noumea seminar, the second in the seminar series will be held on 29th of September at Royal Akarana Yacht Club.

The RFD Category One Requirements Seminar will feature, www.bakewell-White.com!Brett_Bakewell – White, New Zealand’s leading naval architect Fresh from the AC Regatta in Plymouth, England. Brett will talk about yacht stability, righting moments and keels. How did Rambler come to lose her bulb and capsize in the recent Fastnet race? What do yacht inspectors look for at the Category 1 safety inspection?

If you do need to abandon the yacht you need to be able to stay float. John Roberts from RFD will talk about life rafts and personal flotation devices. A life raft will be inflated on site and the structure and contents examined.

If you are thinking about competing in Sail Noumea 2012. Have an interest in offshore sailing. If you are interested in safety at sea, or simply keen to attend the presentation from Brett Blakewell-White you are welcome at RAYC on 29th September from 6pm. The bar will be open. A selection of light food will be served. Presentations will begin at 7pm.
