Australian 4x4 and Marine Expo - Snow Sailor and Baja confirmed

by Australian 4x4 and Marine Expo on 19 Feb 2015
The Outer Edge Polar Snow Sailer will be at the Australian 4x4 and Marine Expo Australian 4x4 and Marine Expo
Visitors to the inaugural Australian 4x4 and Marine Expo at Manly Boat Harbour on March 6-8 will have a rare opportunity to view up close, two incredible international competitors.

The Outer Edge Polar Challenge Snow Sailor, set to challenge the current world ice sailing speed record in November and Chris Western’s Off Road Rush Mickey Thompson Team Baja 1000 buggy will both be prominent features at the event.

As well as viewing these two incredible machines, visitors to the show will also be able to hear from those responsible for piloting them with the RolaSolar stand hosting sessions across the weekends with Outer Edge Polar Challenge Director Charles Web while solo Baja 1000 racer Chris Western will be on the Lightforce stand from 1.00pm – 3.00pm on Friday 6th March.

Powered by solar and driven by wind, the Snow Sailor, will raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation through its attempt to break the current world record and travel 4,500 kilometres unsupported.

The team, consisting of Charles Werb, Dr Adrian McCallum and documentary producer Jonathan Moody will set off in November 2015 on the journey of a lifetime with the aim of proving snow/ ice sailing and wind powered travel is viable, scientific exploration, education and fundraising for the Leukaemia Foundation.

'It’s fantastic to be a part of the Expo, particularly being so close to home as it gives us a chance to show Queenslanders that dreams can come true,' Werb said.

'We're going to have one of our snowsailers and hope that everyone takes the opportunity to come and see it as well as take a seat in it. We'll also be doing some great giveaways and you can pick up a copy of Outer Edge magazine. I look forward to seeing everyone there, meeting the other exhibitors and chatting about my journey to the South Pole.'

Western, who incredibly drove for the entire 1000 miles of the race, only switched navigators amd finished eighth in his class at iconic event held in Mexico in November.

The car was manufactured locally in Mannum and was the first Australian Buggy to compete in the BAJA 1000 event.

'I am looking forward to coming to the Australian 4x4 and Marine Expo,' Western said.

'My Baja buggy will be on display and I look forward to sharing stories with visitors such as how important my Lightforce lights were in Baja, with the race running through two consecutive nights.

'It is also a good opportunity to catch up with other 4WDers and I am keen to see the new location,' Western continued.

The inaugural event, which encompasses the proven Explore Australia Expo and Queensland favourite, Brisbane Tinnie and Tackle Show, offers consumers a spy, try and buy experience, all in the one place.

Visitors to the Australian 4x4 and Marine Expo will have the chance to win a 4x4 and marine package valued at $10,000 thanks to Narva and Boating and RV. All ticket purchasers will receive an entry form for the competition which can be lodged in the entry boxes located at the Narva or Boating and RV stands at the show.

Plus, everyone who purchases tickets online will go into the draw to win a Maritimo Experience courtesy of Get Into Boating, valued at $6,090.00.

The unique experience is for five people and includes a cruise on the Gold Coast Broadwater onboard a luxury 58' Maritimo Boat to Couran Cove, overnight accommodation and dinner at Couran Cove’s 'The Restaurant'
