Aquece Rio – Int'l Sailing Regatta - RS-X medal racers at the ready

by Daniel Smith on 8 Aug 2014
2014 Aquece Rio - RS:X Fleet ISAF
The first Medal Races will be held at the Aquece Rio – International Sailing Regatta 2014 on Thursday 7 August with the Men’s and Women’s RS:X taking to the Pão de Açucar race track.

Eight races across both fleets have brought the ten racers to the closing stage. Charline Picon (FRA) has a solid lead in the Women’s fleet and should bring home gold whilst Dorian van Rijsselberge (NED) has a narrow advantage of Byron Kokkalanis (GRE) in the Men’s RS:X

The Men’s RS:X will commence racing at 13:00 on the Pão de Açucar course with the Women’s following at 13:40.

Inside Guanabara Bay the breeze will blow from a south easterly direction at 5-10 knots. Outside of the Bay at 3-6 knot breeze will be present. The waves from the previous two days will slowly decrease but they are still present on the race tracks.

Catch up on Wednesday’s news here.

All but one of the fleets will continue to play catch up after a day of racing was lost early on in the event. The schedule is as follows:
