The summer is fast approaching and CORK is very excited to welcome more than 1500 competitors to Kingston to compete. The Laser Canadian Championships, this summer’s first event, is less than one month away, with racing on June 20-21.

The Laser World Championships includes top athletes from 60 nations. Among these competitors, CORK welcomes back athletes from Kingston’s 2007 ISAF Youth World Championships, including the winner of the 2007 Youth Worlds, Pavlos Kontides representing Cyprus. Also returning for the 2015 Laser World Championship is Philipp Buhl representing Germany, Jeemin Ha representing Korea, and Joaquin Blanco representing Spain. The Canadian National Team will compete, including Kingston's Robert Davis. Opening ceremonies will be held on July 1 at Confederation Basin Park, and racing will run July 2-8th from Portsmouth Olympic Harbor.

The Laser Masters’ World Championships includes athletes 35 years and older from all continents, including Canadian competitors Andy Roy, Al Clark, Bill Fuller, and Rob Muru who also competed in the previous Laser World Championship in Kingston, in 1980. Andy Roy recently stated “I have great memories of that 1980 Championships, where a large number of future Olympic medalists and America’s Cup sailors competed, so it’s just fantastic to see the Worlds coming back to “K-town” 35 years later. Laser Masters’ opening ceremonies will be held July 11 at the Kingston Yacht Club, and racing will run July 12-18.

August is packed with five different sailing competitions. The August events start with the CORK International Optimist Regatta (Aug 6-9), followed by CORK International-Sail Canada Youth Championships presented by Volvo (Aug 9-13) and CORK's Olympic Classes Regatta- Sail Canada Senior Championships presented by Volvo (Aug 14-19) and the Laser Radial Youth World Championship (Aug 14-20). The summer will finish off with the National Sa Cadet Regatta (Aug 18-21).
