Pantaenius 2022 - SAIL LEADERBOARD AUS

2015 Tasar World Champs - Chris Dance and Peter Hackett series leader

by Greg Jennings on 7 Jan 2015
Chris Dance and Peter Hackett celebration the success - Tasar 2015 World Championships Kilaphotos
2015 Tasar World Championship - Tuesday 6th January the Tasar 2015 World Championships had three races during the afternoon. Initially it was a light southerly breeze and a low chop, with the breeze slowly increasing by the third race into a relatively strong wind and very choppy seas with swell running in different directions.

The conditions were initially good for sailing, but were very testing by the third race, especially considering that people were getting tired after four days of sailing. The wind chop that had developed by the third race and disturbed air from the large fleet made the start line a difficult place to get through, with a lot of boats trying to start on port tack and causing much shouting from right of way boats. As the race progressed, there were quite a few capsizes and also some damaged boats.

The day’s first race (race four of the regatta) was won by Chris Dance and Peter Hackett from Australia on 'Doppio'.

The second race was won by Aaron Linton and Jamie Jochheim from Australia on 'A Team'.

The third race was won by Rick Longbottom from Australia on 'ADF1'.

The regatta series leader after the six races that have been sailed, is Chris Dance and Peter Hackett from Australia. In second place is Rob and Nicole Douglass from Australia. In third place is Jay and Lisa Renehan from the USA. In forth place is Michael Karas and Molly Jackson from the USA. In fifth place is Hugh Tait and Tara McCall from Australia. In six place is Anthony Boscolo and Haley lane from the USA.

The first Japanese boat is Taro Yamamura on 'Miyako' in 18th place. The first Irish boat is Conor Byrne and Michelle Mackie on 'Whammy' in 19th place. The first Great Britain boat is Stephen Birbeck and Gretel Ramsey on' Moist down Under’ in 28th place. The first Netherlands boat is Constantine Udo and Jan Kellermann-Slotemaker on 'Appetasar' in 53rd place. The first Italian boat is Giorgio Martelli and Alvaro Proietti on 'Bigger Onda' in 115th place.

Wednesday 7th January is a lay day, and will be a welcome rest for weary bodies and also a chance for a bit of sight seeing. Thursday 8th January is scheduled for races seven and eight of the ten race series. For more information please visit our event website. The event is being hosted by Geographe Bay Yacht Club, Busselton, Western Australia.
