Day Two of the SB20 2015 Australian Championships began in style in Hobart this morning with host club, the Derwent Sailing Squadron taking time out after Day Two’s race briefing to recognise women in sailing on International Women’s Day 2015.
This year’s theme Make it Happen is not lost on this close knit sailing community. The 2015 SB20 Australian Championships has a fleet which includes female boat owners, skippers and crew including Alice Grubb, Sam Bailey and Meg Goodfellow on Big Ted, Diana Reale on Realemedia, Anneliese Hunt on Pez, and Erin Foster on Back of the Bus Boys.
On the water, experienced Farr40 sailor and navigator Claire Cunningham (pictured) holds her own as the only female member of the jury.
And around the Club and the course the support from female club members and supporters is obvious through media and communications, behind the bar and in catering, driving support boats, or as aspiring junior sailors.
