Maersk Line ANZAC Regatta - Yamaha dominates on Day 2

2015 Maersk Line ANZAC Regatta - Day 2 Suellen Hurling
On Day 2 of the Maersk Line ANZAC regatta the fleet was greeted with a 18-24 Knot East to North East breeze for three more races in the series.

There was an on water delay of over one hour before racing finally got under way but with the outgoing tied this caused the race committee a mountain of problems combined with two general recalls.

Thurlow Fisher Lawyers clean sweep on Day 1 came to an end as the New Zealand teams bounced back with some good races. The top five boats in the regatta seemed to have equal pace up and down wind which meant the racing was fierce with any mistakes punished!

Yamaha had the best day with a win in race three and five, which was an impressive result considering Dave on the helm was the only regular crew member. A fifth in Race 5 was a small blimp on the score card.

Aon Racing also had a great day and with two second places in races four and five after a breakage in race three. The team used their extra righting moment to full force and had storming speed upwind and great crew work at the corners.

Although Thurlow Fisher Lawyers did not maintain their dominating form they still managed a two podium finishes with a second in race three and a come from behind third in race five after a blinder of a last leg.

Knight Frank bounced back from a disappointing first day to claim three, three, four and show their metal in the breeze.

C-Tech, with a four man crew, managed to win race four and showed absolute speed upwind with four bodies on the wire. Unfortunately at the closing stages of race five their bobstay broke causing the prod to shatter.

Forecast is looking like more windy conditions for Day 3 which will no doubt test the fitness of the crews.

Thanks to Maersk Line, Harken, Fineline and North Sails for the support and fast rides
