2015 Inter dominion Championships – A lovely 10 knot afternoon breeze on the third and final day led to an all Kiwi affair.

Kerikeri High School from Northern NZ had another dominant day with some solid results to take the regatta. Kerikeri’s Team Manager, Ian Harris, was all praise for his team’s performance after a very long training program over the New Zealand winter came out on top of the quality fleet. Kerikeri High School had won the title previously, many years ago, winning it this year was a great satisfaction after all the hard work. Kerikeri sailor, Frankie Dare, was thrilled with taking the title from Friends Blue, who placed second. The battle for third was very tight with only half a win difference from third to sixth; however Marlborough claimed the spot, rounding out the top three.

A great celebration was had by the girls from New Plymouth who came out on top of the Women’s Division. Rebecca Haylock from the team was thrilled with the win over fellow New Zealand team, Nelson Girls College, in second and St Leonards, who took third. The girls won all but one race today and were happy that all their sailors had a great day and sailed consistently as a team.

120 races were conducted by the race management over the three days even with variable conditions throughout the regatta. The last day may have started off with no wind, however a lovely 10 knot breeze in the afternoon, the start fifty metres off the Canberra Yacht Club and a huge crowd on the shore provided a great atmosphere for the end of the regatta. Thanks to all competitors, umpires and volunteers for a great weekend of racing.
