This weekend’s Explore Australia Expo at Melbourne Showgrounds will house an anglers paradise with a huge display of fishing equipment and tackle, as well as interactive activities to engage and educate consumers on fishing, boating and marine activities. ??
The Channel 31 Fishing Stage is a must for anglers with non-stop demonstrations, discussions and workshops with experts including John Willis (Beach Marine) Catch and Cook hosts Ron and Damo, Oz Fish TV (yak fishing), John Didge (talking soft plastics), Paul Carter (squid fishing) and Steve Trembath (land based barra).
The unmissable fishing stage will be framed by the impressive Rod Train mobile transporter, providing a unique visual presence with the 5m x 1m screen enhancing presentations with the ability to show footage and inspiring fishing images.
In a huge coup for the event popular journalist, presenter and conservationist Al McGlashan will conduct a series of presentations on the Channel 31 Fishing Stage, sharing his personal experiences and offering tips and tricks to fishing enthusiasts throughout the weekend.
McGlashan is passionate about fishing and all things outdoors. The host of ‘Big Fish Small Boats” is now regarded as Australia’s biggest fishing profile and said he is looking forward to meeting visitors to the Explore Australia Expo.
“I am going to go through all the things I have learned after 30 years of catching big fish out of trailer boats,” McGlashan said.
“Not only will I show visitors to the show what they need to do to catch big fish but also awesome images and video to boot.
“It doesn’t matter whether you want to catch bill-fish or big tuna we will run through all the tips to help you connect and of course some spectacular images as well,” he added.
McGlashan has always played an important role not only in fighting for anglers rights in the nation’s capital but also working in with researchers from satellite tagging mako sharks and tuna to electronic tags for king-fish.
Showgoers will also be invited to try out the latest in fishing simulator technology at the Indoor Fishing Simulator stand located in the Fishing and Marine Pavilion. Suitable for juniors through to pro-anglers the simulators have been upgraded to include king-fish, marlin, dolphin fish, trout and squid and will have enthusiasts battling to land a virtual catch.
The stand-up simulator is equipped with a high-quality rod and reel and requires the user to fight against the real-time feedback of a range of big fish trying to make their escape. The visitor who posts the highest score over the weekend will take home their very own Indoor Fishing Simulator.
The Explore Australia Expo will encompass the first public viewing of the exciting TABS 5600 Southern Raider Centre Console Hard Top. The boat will be a main feature for marine superstore Regal Marine who will everything for your boating, fishing or waterspouts needs.
Regal Marine's James Verheyen said new hard top range would be popular with anglers.
'The ever increasingly popular TABS Boats have extended their range with hard top models from 5.3m right up to 8.5m,' Verheyen said.
'We are excited to confirm we will have the boat on our stand at the Explore Australia Expo.'
