2015 Audi Melges 20 Audi-Tron Sailing Series - Complicated Day 1

by Melges 20 on 12 Apr 2015
2015 Audi Melges 20 Audi-Tron Sailing Series Renato Tebaldi
A light, Southerly breeze of three - five knots opened the Loano edition of the Audi Melges 20 2015 Audi-Tron Sailing Series organized by B.Plan Sport and Events (BPSE) in cooperation with Melges Europe. Three races were successfully completed thanks to the excellent and very professional Giancarlo Crevatin as PRO alongside of his Yacht Club Marina di Loano based Race Committee.

Five little points separate the top five finishers and among them is overnight leader Alexander Ezhkov's Pirogovo Yacht Club Russian entry ahead on countback of Italy's Dario Levi on Fremito D'Arja tied with 18 points a piece. Four points behind in third place is Matteo Vaselli Marenghi on Lucifer. Guido Miani's Out of Reach is seated fourth followed by Agusta Corrado's Customly in fifth.

The racing became more and more complicated as the day unfolded with classic top teams fleet-wide suffering the faltering effects including Achille Onorato's Mascalzone Latino, Jr., Carlo Perrone's Atlantichina, Andrea Pozzi's Bombarda Racing, Mirko De Falko's Peccere and Marco Perazzo's Audi g-Tron.

Three additional races are planned for Sunday, the final day of racing in Loano.

In addition to main sponsor Audi, the Audi-Tron Sailing Series is supported by official sponsors Kuehne+Nagel, Technical Partners Torqeedo, Caffe Vergnano, Bavaria, Usail, Nuova Jolly and The Suite Club.
