2015 Airlie Beach Race Week – It was champagne and smiles all round at the Whitsunday Sailing Club when the 43’ mono hull ‘Huahine’, owned by local yachtsman Nick Smail took its place as the 100th entry in this year’s Airlie Beach Race Week.
According to Race Week Spokesman Adrian Bram, with less than two weeks to go before the racing and festivities commence reaching 100 entries is a milestone. “The word is on the street and on the water that this year’s Whitsunday Sailing Club Airlie Beach Race Week is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in the event's 26 year history.
“Serious competition in seven divisions on the water and a seven nights of free live music is at the Sailing Club’s Tropical Festival of Sailing is something that the Whitsunday Community will want to be part of.
“No ticket sales, just show up, meet the Racing Crews, join the party and be part of what is arguably Airlie’s biggest annual sporting event”, Mr Bram said.
Race Officials are ecstatic that the 100th entry milestone has been reached and are expecting more yachtsmen and women to sign up their vessels before Airlie Beach Race Week begins with opening celebrations at the Sailing Club on August 7th.
