2013 LCMR Regatta - Multihull Rendezvous

by Doug Cuming on 6 Sep 2013 The 2013 APC Logistics Lock Crowther Multihull Regatta (LCMR) is set to be the biggest yet with this year’s event adding a fun-filled Multihull Rendezvous to complement its traditional racing program. Set over the October long weekend, 4th-6th October, the LCMR sees the Royal Motor Yacht Club Broken Bay join forces with Multihull Solutions to create an event that caters for both competitive and cruising multihull enthusiasts.

As well as the traditional LCMR racing program that includes a series of offshore and inshore races, the Multihull Rendezvous invites cruising multihulls to enjoy an unforgettable social rally in the beautiful waterways of Broken Bay. Multihull Solutions, Australia and New Zealand’s leading multihull brokerage, has run the popular Whitsunday Multihull Rendezvous for several years, and the LCMR Regatta now enables southerners to experience this successful cruising concept. The Multihull Rendezvous is open to multihulls of all makes and sizes, including Fountaine Pajot, Seawind, Grainger, Schionning and Oram catamarans, and the event comprises a relaxed itinerary of casual sailing, themed parties, and social events that embrace a spirit of fun.

Meanwhile competition is expected to be fierce in the LCMR’s racing division with a large number of entries expected from all around Australia including recent RMYC’s own National Trailerable Multihull winner, Morticia, a new Seacart 30 trimaran, being joined by other National particiapants. Foxy and Two Tribes will come down from Lake Maquarie, joining hot RMYC boats: Indian Chief, Voodoo Spirit, Quickstep and Lukim Yu. A number of Corsair and Farrier trimarans will also be competing keenly for the overall handicap honours over the four exhilarating inshore races on Saturday and Sunday. The optional Blue Water Classic ocean race on Friday will suit the big cats TwoUpTwo and The Countess, challenging last year’s winner Voodoo Spirit.

Both racing and cruising entrants will enjoy a social programme that includes a welcome BBQ on Friday and a fun, themed party on Saturday evening. The weekend will close with a Presentation Dinner on Sunday where winners of both divisions will receive prizes provided by the event sponsors.
