2013 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships- Louise Evans in the Laser Radial class at the ISAF Youth Worlds ISAF
After the second day of racing at the 2013 ISAF Youth Sailing World Australian sailors remain in the hunt for medals in Limassol, Cyprus.

Australia’s 420 girl’s crew of Carrie Smith and Ella Clark currently sit in the silver medal position after the opening five races.

Smith and Clark, who won silver at the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships last year, were second in Tuesday’s first race, before finishing race two in 10th, to be just four points behind the leading Italian crew, the defending champions at the event.

In the multihull SL16 class Paul Darmanin and Lucy Copeland ended day two in fourth position, with the pair currently just three points off the podium.

Darmanin and Copeland improved with each race on Tuesday, beginning the day with a ninth before finishing fifth in race two and winning the final race of the day.

Laser Radial girl’s competitor Louise Evans was the big mover of day two, jumping up from her overnight 29th to be sixth overall.

Evans was in the top four in every race on Tuesday, finishing with a third, a fourth and a second, and once she was able to drop her black flag from the opening race of the regatta shot up the leader board.

Defending Laser Radial boy’s champion Mark Spearman ended day two of racing in seventh position, with the West Australian finishing 28th, 14th and second in the day’s three races.

Harry Price and Angus Williams are currently sitting eighth in the 29er class, with the pair having a mixed day on the water. Price and Williams began the day with a 20th and a 21st before bouncing back well with a sixth in the final race.

In the RS:X girl’s class New South Wales sailor Annalise Gilbert is currently in 16th position, with the three-time ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship representative finishing 17th, 20th and 16th in the three races contested on Tuesday.

Jock Calvert is 25th in the RS:X boy’s class following a 25th, 26th and a 16th, with the final race of the day his best result so far this regatta.

Racing continues in Cyprus on Wednesday, with the 2013 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships wrapping up on Friday.
