Australia's Foreign Affair leads North American Mumm 30 titles

Richard Perini's Foreign Affair is campaigning hard to winn the Mumm 30 World. Here is a report from Day 2 of the American Mumm 30 championships.

Team Foreign Affair on tour Day 2.

A great start to the 2nd day. Wind from the North at about 12 knots and the course inshore on Naragansett Bay.

Race 3 - Clean start at the boat end, early tack off to the right, nice first beat, led around every mark to win by a few lengths from Paydirt, Steadfast, Off the Guage & Intermec.

Race 4 - similar conditions, great start at boat end, but general recall spoilt it.

2nd start was a disaster, back row and stalled, so very deep around the first mark. We worked hard for the rest of the race to get back up to 4th, behind Intermec, Steadfast and Paydirt.

Race 5 - Again, similar conditions, OK start and first beat, with te whole fleet very close at the top mark. We were 2nd, and held that spot (more or less) around the rest of the track to finish a length behind Steadfast, with a small break back to Intermec.

The Race Committee decided that the weather was too good not to get an extra race in, so signalled a 6 leg 4th race of the day.

The breeze was clocking right, so we got a great mid line start and worked our way right to capitilise on the right hand shifts to round comfortably in front. The rest of the race had us extend on every leg, with the crew working hard and solid tactics giving us a win by over a minute from Intermec.

With a race to go tomorrow, we have a 1/2 point lead from Intermec, and a futher 2 points over Steadfast. Once again, its all down to the wire!
