2012 Coastal Classic Start - V5 (David Nathan) clocked at 25kts in a squall
David Nathan's TP52, V5, was again first monohull to finish in the RNZYS Auckland to Musket Cove Yacht Race, repeating the feat of a year earlier in the Auckland to Noumea race. Designed by Alan Andrews, V5 is a first generation TP52, since substantially upgraded including being fitted with a canting keel, and substantial new sail inventory. Although she had to dodge two weather systems which reduced the fleet by half, V5 had some good rides on the last two days of the race regularly sailing in the 20-25kts range of boatspeed, and exceeding 30kts on at least one occasion. Bowman and sailing journalist, Ben Gladwell, shot and edited this video of the fast times in the South Pacific classic event
