Auckland Water Boatshow- Practice session for Guinness World Record

Practice Crew ready to test Lancer's Stand up Paddle Boiard - Practice Session for Guinness World Record 'Most people on a SUP Charles Winstone
At the upcoming Auckland on Water Boat Show (25-28 Sept) Lancer Industries Ltd will be arranging a Guinness World Record attempt for 'Most People on a Stand Up Paddle Board'. The attempt will also raise funds for the Child Cancer Foundation (CCF) through 'SUPport Courage'.

The Stand Up Paddle Board is an inflatable board 20 metres long and 1.4 metres wide, built by Lancer. Ahead of the show, a practice session on Saturday 13 September took place. Charles Winstone, General Manager of Lancer, said 'Up until Saturday it was just an idea and it was great to see it actually happen. I am sure it is going to be a great spectacle at the boat show. It has been fantastic to have such great help from Jetts City Surf Series and NZ Marine'.

Troy Huston, Event Director of Jetts City Surf Series, will captain the official attempt and led the practice on Saturday. A small crew attended the practice session to test the board and refine some ideas. 'It was very different to paddling a one man board but the team soon got into system and paddled well. We worked on our positioning and steering and I am confident the attempt will go well,' said Huston, following the practice session.

Joining the practice crew on Saturday were Zavier Coulam (10) and Finn Buick (13) from the Child Cancer Foundation. The pair will be part of a four person CCF team that will be involved in the record attempt.

Mr Winstone said the young participants looked comfortable and happy on the board and the Lancer team looks forward to seeing them in action on the day of the attempt and helping the Child Cancer Foundation fundraise.

Liz Atkinson, Auckland/Northland Business Development Manager for the Child Cancer Foundation, says the support of innovative and community spirited companies like Lancer is important to help the Foundation raise the $6million needed annually. 'The Child Cancer Foundation does not receive any government funding, and so we rely on the generosity of the community, and of progressive Kiwi companies like Lancer, to continue to support children with cancer and their families in a practical, meaningful way.

The attempt will take place at the Auckland on Water Boat Show on Saturday 27th September at 3.20pm and is sure to be a highlight of the show.

Make sure to visit the Lancer stand OS-17 (Karanga Plaza) to see the Stand Up Paddle board and check out other boats they have on display like the revolutionary Sea Blade.
