There were no incidents in the attempt - which sets a new mark category in the Guinness World Records.
The 52 paddlers crammed onto the SUP which was especially built for the event using Lancer's Air Dock technology. They started in the kneeling position before standing up to complete the 100 metre course into a moderate headwind.
Starting off the Emirates Team NZ base, the attempt only took a couple of minutes with the Lancer SUP moving easily and without stability issues.
At the top of the course off the Viaduct Events Centre, venue for the Auckland On The Water Boat Show, the paddlers managed to turn the Lancer SUP without assistance and then paddled equally confidently, and possibly more quickly down the course.
Again the return trip passed without incident, and all that remains is for the mark to be ratified by Guinness.
