Earlier this morning they had 35 knots as they passed Yuroseto and stormed toward the finish line with 'shipping everywhere.. …dodging between ships surfing at 16kts…having lots of fun …'!
By 0730hrs the breeze had died and they were predicting 'it could be along morning…'
Spectators are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Wasabi in drizzling, foggy conditions.
Cadibarra 8 was about 100 miles behind Escapade at 0600 and with the current conditions should close that gap as they approach the finish.
Spirit of Downunder, Gusto and Turbulence all making good speed now, with the wind strengthening as they get further north. Turbulence reported a 17 knot easterly and 9.6 knots boat speed.
