The first competition for the America’s Cup Summer of Racing was seen by baseball fans today as the four skippers fought good-naturedly over who threw the fastest pitch and who pounded a perfect strike into the mitts of Sergio Romo and Nick Noonan of the San Francisco Giants.

This coming week sees the Dragon Fleet descend on the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy for the Dragon South Coast Championship on the 23 and 24 June, immediately followed by the Edinburgh Cup. The 75th anniversary of the legendary Bol d’Or Mirabaud, one if the biggest inland regattas in the world - which takes place every year on Lake Geneva, was a special one. There were some 500 boats from the fast Decision 35 to the weird and not so fast Puissance 4. With more than a 100 boats taking part, it was quite a showing of the most popular boat on the lake, the Archambault Surprise.

Events Clothing Company, an Auckland-based superyacht, marine and business clothing specialist is a finalist for the 2013 Auckland Export QBE Exporter of the Year (sales under $25 million) Award. The company celebrated many successes since its start in 1991. Events’ first big win was supplying uniforms to Team New Zealand in the 1995 America’s Cup challenge headed by the late Sir Peter Blake.

The ISAF World Sailing Rankings for 17th June 2013 have been released with Austrian sailors storming up the rankings to match Australia with four top three positions. At world number one, eight nations are now represented with Australia's Mat Belcher and Will Ryan unbeaten, again. In the 49er class, the French have claimed both the number one and number two spots.

Rumours across Australia is that a new political party would be formed during the 30th Audi Hamilton Island Race Week 2013, which will be staged only weeks before the federal election, have been confirmed. Details are sketchy at this stage, but it is known that the announcement will be heard and seen during the staging of the Prix d’ Elegance on Friday, August 23.

Artemis Racing's Sailing Director, Iain Percy, has spoken out for the first time since the team's training accident, on May 9, 2013, which resulted in the death of his fellow double Olympic medalist, and long time friend and crew, Andrew 'Bart' Simpson. On Sunday morning, half past 10, all competitors in the 36th Round Texel Race heard the redeeming words: 'the 36th Round Texel will be raced today!' Following the postponement of 15 June, due to the strong winds, 194 of the initial 288 registered catamarans appeared at the start for the postponned version of the Biggest Cat race of the World.
