Volvo Ocean Race- Kaenon Interviews - Team SCA - Lush and Barkow

Sail-World.com's NZ Editor Richard Gladwell spoke with Team SCA's Annie Lush (GBR) and Sally Barkow (USA) in the Volvo Ocean Race Village at Auckland's Viaduct Harbour.

This long, unedited interview traversed a lot of ground from their view of Leg 4, where they finished within six hours of the lead boat; They have a different view from the mens crews on the use of AIS; Then there is the challenges they faced in being the first womens crew to sail in the Volvo Ocean Race; What they learned from their early coach, the late Magnus Olsson and much more.

Annie Lush and Sally Barkow are both Olympians having sailed in the 2012 and 2008 Olympics respectively in Womens match racing. They both wear prescription Kaenons and have different eyesight issues, which have been solved by the use of Kaenon sunglasses - for both day and night-time wear. They cover the issues that they have had over the years with trying to correct their eyesight for sailing, and the enormous difference that Kaenons have made to their sailing in the Volvo Ocean Race.

Lush describes the Kaenon prescription glasses as being a 'life changing experience' improving several eyesight issues, and providing superior eye protection in the harsh Volvo Ocean Race environment. Barkow has a different and deteriorating eyesight issue. The Kaenons have made significant differences to her ability to read instruments, and almost eliminating eye soreness through constant exposure to the harsh racing environment.
