Images from two Sail-World.com Editors have made the Top 80 in the Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image for 2016

Almost 150 photographers entered the competition. The entries were reduced to 80 images for the second phase of the competition were selected by a panel of well know international yacht racing photographers - Christian Février, Rick Tomlinson ands Erik Brin, which have been published on the official website, allowing the international Jury and the public to vote.

Sail-World Asia's Editor Guy Nowell's entry shows Sam Chan’s TP52 just kept moving below the Dragon’s Back at Shek O in the 2016 Rolex China Sea race, making a slow exit from Hong Kong in marginal breeze. The interesting cloud formation merging with the coastal landscape made up for the frustration.

Sail-World New Zealand's Editor Richard Gladwell's entry came from the other end of the weather spectrum on Day 4 of the 2016 Olympic Regatta as the leading three boats in the Mens 470 race sailed in survival conditions on the final dog-leg to the finish line in 3-4 metre Atlantic swells and 20-25kt winds. The day was reckoned by veteran photographers to have been the most extreme conditions experienced at an Olympic Regatta, says Gladwell.
