Royal Varuna Yacht Club hosts ISAF International Umpire Seminar

by Jordan Rumsby on 3 Feb 2015
SW
National officials and rules advisors will come from all corners of the globe to meet at the picturesque Royal Varuna Yacht Club for the ISAF International Umpire Seminar, the means of becoming an ISAF International Umpire. The five days of lectures, exams and assessments will happen between 25 February - 1 March 2015. 'This Seminar is a unique opportunity to develop Umpires for the future', Umpire Instructor John Doerr noted. 'These candidates will ensure Matchracing will remain one of the most exciting forms of sail-boat racing as demonstrated at the America’s Cup and Alpari Matchrace Tour'.

The seminar will combine with the Matchrace Thailand Nationals (grade three), and new for 2015, the Matchrace Thailand Championships (grade two), bringing a whole week of matchrace festivities to Thailand. These events allow teams to enjoy warm sunshine, great sailing and competitive racing vying for important matchrace ranking points. Event Director Jordan Rumsby adds 'International and local teams will battle at the Royal Varuna Yacht Club showcasing the elite level of matchracing. The course will be positioned close to the shore so spectators can enjoy the thrills and spills as they happen'. 'Combining the grade three and grade two events in one week will award winning skippers substantial ISAF matchrace points at the beginning of the 2015 season'.

• ISAF Umpire Seminar: 25 - 26 February 2015
• Matchrace Thailand Nationals (grade 3): 27 February - 1 March 2015
• Matchrace Thailand Championships (grade 2): 5 - 8 March 2015

ISAF Umpire Seminar classroom places still available, as well as skipper places for the Matchrace Thailand Championships.
