We are day four into our journey along the Pamir Highway (the second highest road in the world). Destination: Lake Karakul and the Roof of the World Regatta.
We have been following the River Pianj – the only thing separating us and the border of Afghanistan. Although most of the road is not tarmacked, the road has been quite passable and the scenery has been nothing short of spectacular. The trip has been very straightforward and no complications experienced in Dushanbe (just many road blocks to negotiate as expected).
Getting excited about the prospect of kiting up on the lake again, praying for wind!

Day one sailing was foreshortened due to light winds. Two kite-surfers managed to get out but with the wind conditions they were occasionally left in the water – not a place to be when the water temperature is only 8C! We hope that Day two promises more wind as we travel to the north of the lake to seek better conditions there.
